- Monica wrote two books about using sign language with infants and toddlers. The first is called "Baby Talk: A Guide to Using Basic Sign Language to Communicate with Your Baby," and the other is called "Teach Your Baby to Sign: An Illustrated Guide to Simple Sign Language for Babies and Toddlers."
- While not a world traveler (aside from a vacation to London after college), Monica has plenty of experience with vacationing on a budget since she has four kids she's dragged around the States, and plenty of camping and packing experience for the same reason (the budget!).
- Missouri may not sound like a vacation destination to many, but particularly in the southern part of the state, there are an incredible number of natural wonders that await you — and Monica knows all about them.
Experience
Monica started her writing career in 2000 when she created what was probably, at the time, the only website about baby sign language on the internet. The site caught the attention of a publisher, she wrote a book, and got her first online writing gig ... and it snowballed (in a good way) from there. After writing at other Static brands for a few months, she was promoted to editor, and has edited for several of our websites, from Mashed to The List to Grunge and Explore.
Education
Monica graduated from Missouri Western State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with an emphasis in Technical Communication — an educational track that was packed with enough journalism and literature courses to give her a well-rounded appreciation of the English language and enough history courses to give her the appetite for travel.
